The Name

The name comes from the Aussie saying “beyond the black stump” which is an imaginary point beyond which the country is considered remote or uncivilized.

Beer Facts

The reason this beer is called Black Stump, even though it’s not black, is because Saisons are typically referred to as farmhouse ales and are associated with (not surprisingly) being brewed out on a small farm for consumption during the summer.
